DIY - artichoke lamp

So I saw those lamps on the web somewhere and I fell in love with it, since it's so unique. I thought I'd try and make one myself, it worked out, and I'm already making some for my friends. It's really easy to do, I was done in less than an hour.
This is what it will look like;

You will need
- Scissors
- 2 road maps
- glue
- Regolit (ikea)
- something round

I took something round, in this case the lid of a little box. With a pen draw around it. I was able to draw two circles on this side.

Then you want to cut the circles out, because the map was folded multiple times I only had to cut once to become lots of circles.
This is the result, you want lots and lots of these circles. I used about 2 maps for the whole lamp.
At this point I selected the ones that I wanted more visible and thereby lower on the lamp.
Then you can start glueing them on, put the glue on one side, about 4/5 centimetres. Make them overlay each other on  one side only.
You want to work as if it were fishscales. You will sense how you like it, you have enough time to move it around before it will permanently stay in place.

The finished result!

Halloween - Alice Madness Returns - DIY costume

So as I am a little bit obsessed with Alice in wonderland it was speaking for itself I was going to dress up as Alice. I'm not a frequent gamer, however I can enjoy it every once in a while, I do play the American McGee Alice games. I love them.
Alice is so scary and still hauntingly beautiful. Mad Alice was a way better choice as a Halloween costume because Halloween should be a little bit freaky.

-I do not own this picture. Obviously.

I started of with an old sheet, superglue and scissors. Draw the form of the apron on the sheet, like this.

Cut it out, and cut the neckline as wanted, glue all the sides over. So you have a hem, sorta. You could sew it, I just don't have patience to do so.

I took a strand of leftover sheet, and knotted it around my waist. The pockets I have actually sewn on, they are not equal, however i know they should be, I also like it this way.

I added a skull to my bow, this is optional, I just did it for that little extra bit of creepiness.

With some ink paint, in three shades of red a friend of mine made bloodstains. This part finishes it, and made mine look the way it should. With permanent markers I drew the signs on the pockets. Just grab a navy dress and black boots and you are ready to go.

-For my makeup I wore a black smokey eye with that faded out in red tones. And dark lips, because I wanted to.

Packing for Berlin

So I'm going to Berlin for five days, with school. The bus ride will be an absolute nightmare. Since my classmates are rather immature and uncontrollably hyperactive.
All this aside it's really exciting because I haven't ever been in Berlin yet. I thought it might be fun to document my process of packing, because I'm usually not good at it. But I don't know.
I'll just walk trough the steps that I took.

First up I had to clean my room, because it was a little catastrophic.

After cleaning up, my room was in order. I had also already took some stuff I wanted to pack.

To do that, I made a list of days and events we will be going/doing. We are going out one evening and seeing an opera another evening. During the daytime we will be sightseeing and such.
So I took those clothes, and some random stuff that I came across that I want to take with me.

So having laid out my clothing per day and activity, that is ready to be put in my bag. I chose bras and panties according to the outfits I planned, as everyone should. but I wont be showing that (would be rather strange ). I still haven't decided what jewelry to take.

Then there is random stuff, hairdryers, nintendo, camera, books, shampoo and so on.
I laid those things out, but that isn't complete yet, I still need towels and a toothbrush, however I will be packing that as last thing because I still need to brush my teeth don't I ? And I also haven't chosen what perfume I will be taking. This is what I already have. Some of these will be in my purse as entertainment on the bus, as will be vodka. I will need this to survive, besides everything is more fun when you are little bit drunk.

As I will be on a bus for several hours, and I get bored easily it was important to charge all electronics. This probably was one of the most important steps. Phone, camera, ipod and nintendo. Yes I will be bringing a book, but I'm not excited about reading it, it's a school assignment.
Always charge all your electronics, if you forget to take your charger at least you have full battery to start with!

The last things ready to be packed are makeup stuff, I mainly grabbed my everyday things, mascara, neutral lipstick, concealer and whatever not. Also some makeup to go out, darker eyeshadow, bright lipsticks bla bla bla. Basic brushes and tweezers and off course facewipes.

My Top Tips:
* charge your electronics
*make a list of everything you take with you (to check when you return)
*clean up your room, you might find stuff you want to take
*put your perfume bottle in the hand-luggage (if you travel by bus, train, not-airplane)
*plan an outfit for every occasion
*if you travel with friends, arrange that only one person brings a hairdryer and such.
*ALWAYS bring vodka.

I feel like a big hypocrite preaching how to pack, because I'm terrible at packing, I always forget everything, and I am the biggest scatterbrain you will ever meet.
But with these tips I found myself forgetting less and less every time. It truly works!

ASOS haul!

It is actually already a while ago since I received my order and all, but it was a lot of work trying to get my whole body in frame. ( as you'll be able to see it didn't work out that well ) Also I can't find my tripod so it was really hard taking the pictures. I want to add, that the colors aren't totally true to the clothes in real, I was having trouble with finding a white balance against the purple wall, and doing all that  all by mysel is actually really tough!
Enough rambling lets get on to the clothing;
Both french connection necklaces above: 10.50  euros down: 23.70 euros
First are the necklaces, the one with the bird I actually wanted to buy full priced but I hadn't seen anything else on the site so I wasn't sure. But then it hit the sale and I got scared that it would sell out. So I did some other online shopping and placed my order, I really love the bird head, however I might get it shortened, because it sits between my boobs, and my boobs are most of the time covered.
The tooth thing necklace was rather cheap and I like bronze-ish jewelry.

Mini Printed Dress With Double Skirt 23 euros
This dress comes really short but that is evened out by the high neckline, it has an elastic waist. It is rather scary to put on, because it is small, but when its on, it is perfect. It has a fold detail in front. The back is see through, the skirt is lined. It is an amazing dress.
This dress was also on sale, the price was raised two days after my order, so I was pretty lucky. ASOS raised it to 32 euros again. So I find myself doing a good deal with this gorgeous dress.
Oh, the writings on my hand are from a train I needed to catch, because there was a party and it wasn't in Antwerp.

Tea Dress in 40s Floral Print 18.50 euros
Next was this dress, it has an elastic bit you can see in the first picture, but I would personally belt it. It has a knotted detail on one side and a rather odd neckline. I do like the angular shape of the neckline. The dress hits me right above the knee. Which is a length that really complements my legs. The back is nothing special, its just an average printed dress from the behind. All the details ( elastic, folds, knot ) are in the front of the dress.
I see myself wearing this the next family gathering. The next is a solemn communion, I myself am an atheist but I attend the special occasions of my family. Because I love them, and I respect other religions in every way.

ASOS BLACK Kimono T-Shirt With Print 13 euros
This shirt is from the man section, I found that online stores have really good sales in men sections. The smallest size is usually left over, so I like to check it out. This is a very dark shirt and it has a manly fit. I like to combine it with really girly clothing, a floral skirt or shorts and a blazer. Or something like that.
The skirt in the picture is from Zara, last year it is highwaisted.
My male friends like to mock me when I'm wearing male clothing, because they feel like I should wear formfitting clothes all the time. Boys will be boys?

Last  thing I ordered was this sun dress, it was from vero moda and it came for 19 euros.
It comes rather short, but it doesn't do anything special, it just is the way it looks like on the hanger which is why I'm not wearing it. (I also kind of forgot it)
The print is gorgeous, I have a very limited colorpalet of colors that I will actually wear. mostly blacks and grays, some pastels and gem colors ( ruby red, emerald, ..)
So I fell in love with this black summer dress, it is a very light dress, so even tough it is black it won't become too hot.

I've also ordered a tube top, basic in black. I'm preparing for festival season a little bit, and I might possibly work at one, it isn't certain at all. At festivals as a volunteer we have to wear shirts with the festival name and such on it, and us girls like to put our scissors on it. So that will come in handy.

A friend of mine has also ordered somethings, I would have loved to show them but I already gave them, and I don't have pictures of it.
Her clothing were all festival related. We are extremely excited over this upcoming summer.
We have so many plans and we are going to have an incredible amount of fun.

Letters, Words and Phrases

As I'm waiting for my order with ASOS to arrive I collected the stuff I bought this week.
To me march is all about literature, in any form.

I have never been on the buy books side, I loved going to a library, reading and returning it. Saving space and all. However there are some books I really really really love, and I want to own those books. Also I was late last time and have a rather pricey bill waiting for me at the library. I really love the way how books in the library are lived ( my mother hates it), yellowish paper, creases on the spine. So I bought my books secondhand. No book has cost me more than 6 euros.

 This weeks expansion were:
Life according to Garp - John Irving
The curious incident of the dog at night-time - Mark Haddon
Hannibal, The return of Hannibal Lecter - Thomas Harris
CLASSICS

And off course monthly favorites ELLE and Cosmopolitan.

On the last note, everything in my hands dies. Not only love and food. Nope.
This plant is Bamboo, or was. It has been in my hands for about a week, and I did gave it water, twice.
I hope it will revive, but chances are little I suppose without my mum I wouldn't have two cats.

You kill my heart just to see if I will rise. MiniHaul

hey lovelies,
so as I'm fell ill today and have plenty of time on my hands I figured I might blog, it's now or not.
Besides I've run out of my recordings, I have watched chowder and DisneyChannel stuff all day. Recently I haven't bought much, ( as I do not have a job I'm becoming kind of broke ). The things I have bought I do love.
Dress - French Connection
This is the Meadow Plain Dress, it didn't came cheap. However it hugs me in all the right places, this doesn't really shows up on the pictures. It has the perfect amount of cleavage and the skirt has a flowy jazzy vibe that I love. Because it is this plain I'll be able to get a lot of wear out of it.

Scarve - ZAZA -  15 euros

As I was considering buying the scarve from Free People, the USA flag one. I found this one, which made me a very happy person because the Free People one was rather pricey. I ran into this one, funny thing is that I chose the Union Jack print over the American flag. This one is way less obvious and more interesting.

How it looks in full vieuw.

As to my life, I'm getting it on rails. To be honest I'm partying my ass off, which contributes to me getting bankrupt. Going out, I couldn't help but notice that the "guido" thing, has hit Belgium. Last Saturday I went to UKF Rampage, and without exaggerating 40% of the guys walking around had the color of a carrot.
I try not to judge people, but there was no way ignoring it.

All right, I'll write again by next week
Love,
MitziMitzie
